MNY District Family,
Greetings in the grace and peace of Jesus the Christ!
One of our core ecclesial commitments is connectionalism. That is, we are bound to God and one another in faith and practice – one body, one Spirit, one hope, one Lord, one faith, one baptism (Ephesians 4:1-6). Our local congregations express this oneness weekly as persons from various stations in life gather to pray, sing, read and reflect upon our Holy Scriptures. We also do this as an extended family when we transcend our local boundaries and share in fellowship with one another. We are one people; God’s people!
|
I have seen several beautiful glimpses of this oneness during recent weeks. Below you will find photos from our recent Teen Camp, Quiz Kick-off, and Regional Clergy Gatherings. In each gathering we prayed with and for one another. We sang our faith together, even across languages. We read and reflected on our Holy Scriptures. Our teen bible quizzers even memorized passages of Scripture, hiding God’s Word deep in their hearts.

Two upcoming opportunities for our district women and men are Congreso de Mujeres (September 21 @ Jehová Shammah, Stamford, CT) and our District Men’s Retreat (September 20-22 @ Mirror Lake). Because we are one people – God’s People – these gatherings will include prayer, singing, reading/ studying Scripture, and sharing meals together. Don’t miss out on these opportunities to experience God’s gift of oneness on the Metro NY District – one body, one Spirit, one hope, one Lord, one faith, one baptism!

One in faith with you, Pastor Jeff

Are your church’s child protection policies in place? Establishing a robust child protection policy needs to be a priority for all churches on the Metro New York District. Child protection policies keep your church workers and your children safe.
The Metro NY District has partnered with Protect My Ministry, through our insurance broker Emery & Webb, to provide services that help you ensure your church environments are safe. This partnership provides an opportunity to complete necessary background checks and training.
|
Your church can establish a church specific account at no cost (a $149.00 value). Each background check costs approximately $20 - 25, which covers the requirements for New York, New Jersey and Connecticut law. For more information or if you have questions, please contact Rev. Christine Paolino – [email protected].

Please keep Rev. David & Alondra Perez in your prayers as they grieve the sudden loss of their two month old granddaughter, Jariece Elizabeth de la Rosa, daughter of their son Alexis and wife Jamecia who reside in Iowa. Alondra has been in Iowa caring for her mother, Desire, as she is battling stage 4 cancer. Join us in praying for comfort, strength, and miracles in the days ahead.

Our district staff and leaders were honored to celebrate the retirement of our colleague, Rev. Bruce Barnard as he completes his service to Metro New York on September 1st. Many of you have had the pleasure of working alongside him through church transitions and building sales, experienced his pastoral heart as he walked with you through difficult seasons, and have welcomed him into your congregations to preach on many occasions. While we'll miss his dedication to serving this district, we wish him well as he retreats to upstate New York with his family.
